Pacess are a band from Czechia that plays a very epic form of pagan black metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Poupe" which will be released in May by Slovak Metal Army.
Keyboards start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times while the guitar solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with the vocals being mostly angry sounding black metal screams and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Clear vocals can also be heard on some of the tracks while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Deep growls can also be heard briefly along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a small amount of blast beats as well as some melodies also being added into the guitar riffing, as the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars can be heard and most of the music sticks to a mid tempo direction.
Pacess plays a style of pagan black metal that is very epic, melodic and mid tempo sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Czech and cover Nature, Paganism and Indo European Folklore themes.
In my opinion Pacess are a very great sounding epic pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sommeliar" "Tadeus" and "Jmenem lilie". 8 out of 10.
