Iarmhairt are a band from Northern Ireland that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of t heir 2023 demo which will be re-issued in March by Fiadh Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the demo along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with the guitar riffing also adding in a lot of melody and synths can also be heard briefly.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while one song also adds in a brief use of dark soundscapes. Clear vocals can also be heard briefly along with all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them, a couple of tracks are also long and epic in length and clean playing can also be heard briefly as well a s the closing track also adding in a small amount of death metal g rowls..
Iarmhairt plays a style of black metal that is very raw and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and scientific themes.
In my opinion Iarmhairt are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "At The Edge Of Oblivion" and "Residual Scourge". 8 out of 10.
