Imperceptum are a solo project from Germany that started out more in a cosmic style of black metal and on this recording plays an atmospheric mixture of black and funeral doom metal with elements of dark ambient and this is a review of his 2024 album "Chaos Pilgrimage" which will be released in February by The Way Of The Hermit.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while the slower sections of the songs also bring in elements of funeral doom metal. When synths are utilized they also give the recording more of an atmospheric feeling as well as adding in touches of dark ambient and all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the vocals being mostly deep death metal growls with a few black metal screams. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic style along with some clean playing also being added into certain sections of the recording, when the music finally speeds up on a couple of tracks a small amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard.
Imperceptum plays a musical style that takes atmospheric black metal and mixes it with funeral doom metal and dark ambient to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover cosmic darkness, nothingness and death themes.
In my opinion Imperceptum are a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of black and funeral doom metal with elements of dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS (INCLUDE "The Chains Of Time" and "Sermon Of The Chaos Pilgrim". 8 out of 10.
