Knights Of Rain are a solo project from Germany that plays an atmospheric mixture of post black metal and blackgaze and this is a review of his 2024 album "The Witch's Garden Stays Hidden From Dawn" which will be released in February by Fiadh Productions.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Elements of shoegaze are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and whispered vocals can also be heard briefly.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the album also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere at times and the clear vocals are also very heavily rooted in post rock.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of clean playing as well as most of the songs also avoiding the use of any power chords. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the nightly woods.
In my opinion Knights Of Rain are a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of post black metal and blackgaze and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Her Darkest Form Is The Purest Glance" "Stories on The Kings Grave' "The Demon Stirs" and "All in Flames". 8 out of 10.
