Praznina are a solo project from Serbia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording goes for an esoteric and nihilistic from of black metal and this is a review of his 2023 album "Čovek koji Nije" which was released by Hammer Of Damnation.
Water sounds start off the album along with some clean playing which also returns on later tracks a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with a couple of the tracks also being long and epic in length, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the songs also add in a good balance between old school and modern influences .
On this recording Praznina brings out a very aggressive, modern, nihilistic and esoteric form of black metal. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Serbian and cover wisdom through suffering, esoteric nihilism and anti life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Praznina and if you are a fan of esoteric and nihilistic black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Isijavanja" "U beskraju..." and "Nepokretno Imanentan". 8 out of 10.
