Chotzä are a band from Switzerland that has had music reviewed before in t his zine and on this recording plays black'n'roll and this is a review of their 2024 album "Pächschwarz " which will be released in April by Folter Records.
A very heavy black'n'roll sound starts off the album while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster sections of the songs they also give the album more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also mixing in influences from both the first and second wave era's of the genre and mixing it with a more modern day aggression.
Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with some of the guitar riffing also mixing in the raw aggression of punk as well as all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them, keyboards and clear vocals can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Swiss and cover sex, drugs, murder, violence, hate, sickness and Satanism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Chotzä and if you are a fan of black'n'roll, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gottvergaessae" "Loeutschae" "Satan's Suendae" and "Wundgang". 8 out of 10.
