Cross Contact are a solo project from France that plays an industrial form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Rechute" which was released by Mort sur Musique.
Industrial sounds start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Synths are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with some guitar solos and leads also being added into the music on a coupleNevr of the tracks.
Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly while a lot of the drum beats are also programmed. Vocals are a mixture of industrial and black metal style screams along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the album more of a raw feeling, chants and clear vocals can also be heard briefly as well as one track also adding in a touch of drum'n'bass and all of the music sticks to either a mid tempo of fast direction.
Cross Contact plays a style of industrial black metal that is very heavy and aggressive sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover self destruction, the cacophony of harsh realities and the perils of conspiracy theories.
In my opinion Cross Contact are a very great sounding industrial black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Grogir" "Nevralge" and "Errance, Pt. 1". 8 out of 10.
