This is a review of another recording from Oakland, California's Carrion Bloom which also shows the music going for a raw mixture of black metal and punk and the ep and this is a review of their 2022 ep "Sacraments Of Pestilence" which will be re-issued in May, 2024 by Fiadh Productions.
A very heavy yet melodic sound starts off the ep while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the songs more of raw feeling and the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the songs also add in a great amount of punk elements. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one song also adding in a brief use of clear vocals, spoken word samples and synths can also be heard briefly.
On this recording Carrion Bloom takes their raw mixture of black metal and punk into more of a melodic direction. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover angry themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Carrion Bloom and if you are a fan of r aw and melodic black metal and punk, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Deformed Progeny Of Narcissus" and "Bitter Chalice". 8 out of 10.
