Welter In Thy Blood are a band from California that has had their first release reviewed in this zine with a music style that combines black metal, funeral doom, drone and noise together and this is a review of their 2010 album "The Fields of Mourning" which was released by Shadowgraph.
Drums are all slow beats with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the sound effects bring a very dark avant garde noise feeling to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars are all slow riffs that combine raw black metal with funeral drone/doom metal which extends into some very long and experimental songs and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly distorted high pitched black metal screams with some spoken word parts being used at times, while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great album from Welter in Thy Blood and while it is alot more experimental than their previous recordings it is still very good and if you are looking for an album that combines black/funeral doom metal with drone/noise, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Despondent Unto Death" and "Enemy Of The Human Race". RECOMMENDED BUY.
