Death. Void. Terror are a band from Switzerland that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording plays an experimental and ritualistic mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their album "To The Great Monolith II" which will be released in 2020 by Repose Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with the vocals being a mixture of grim yet tortured black metal screams and deep growls. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the music also capturing an improv atmosphere at times as well as having its experimental and ritualistic moments. Clean vocals and Gregorian chants can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with some dark soundscapes also being utilized at times, whispered vocals can also be heard briefly as well as some tracks also adding in some mid tempo sections. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics follow a concept revolving around ''The Great Monolith".
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Death. Void. Terror and if you are a fan of ritualistic and experimental black and doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "( - --- )" and "( -- -- )". 8 out of 10.
