Seth are a band from France that plays a very atmospheric and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Les Blessures de I' Ame: XX ans de Blasphme" which was released by Les Acteurs de L' Ombre Productions.
Live audience reaction starts off the album along with some synths a few seconds later while spoken word parts are also utilized at times. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
The riffs also add in a great amount of melody while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with all of the musical instruments on the recording having a very powerful sound to them.
A couple of the tracks also introduces acoustic and classical guitars onto the album as well as the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's and one of the tracks is an instrumental. The production sounds very professional along with the songs all being recorded live while the lyrics are written in French and cover apocalypse, pain, anti Christianity and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Seth are a very great sounding atmospheric and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this live album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "La Quintessence du Mal" "Le Cercle de la Renaissance" and "A la Memoire de nos Freres". 8 out of 10.
