Empire Of The Moon are a band from Greece that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their album "Eclipse" which will be released in 2020 by Iron Bonehead Productions.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album which also introduces synths onto the recording which also gives the music more of an epic atmosphere before going into a heavier musical direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams while growls are also utilized at times. The music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's Greek along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic yet old school style along with the spoken word parts also giving the songs more of a ritualistic feeling when they are utilized, some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and as the album progresses a brief use of melodic vocals and clean playing can also be heard, Gregorian chants can also be heard on the closing track briefly. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover magick, occultism, necromancy, spirituality and mysticism themes.
In my opinion Empire Of The Moon are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of t his musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Imperium Tridentis" and "Devi Maha Devi". 8/5 out of 10.
