Irae is a solo project from Portugal that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of his 2019 ep "The old Ways" which will be released on December 25th by Purodium Records.
Rain and thunder sounds start off the ep before going into more of a darker musical direction which also brings in a small amount of clean vocals while also introducing tortured yet high pitched black metal screams onto the recording along with the riffs also adding in some dark yet melodic guitar leads.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The songs also add in a great amount of 90's era influences while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Irae plays a style of black emtal that is very raw and old school in the 90's tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and End Of Humanity themes.
In my opinion Irae are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Above The Stars Of God" and "Night At The Graveyard". 8 out of 10.
