Drivdal is a solo project from Norway that plays an anarcho form of black metal with some elements of punk and 70's rock and this is a review of his 2019 ep "Leve" which was released by Death to Music Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the e along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black emtal screams along with some deep growls also being utilized at times as well a s the music also capturing the aggression of hardcore punk.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic 70's rock style along with one track also introducing keyboards onto the recording, the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the ep progresses a brief use of clean playing can also be heard.
Drivdal plays a musical style that takes Norwegian black metal and mixes it with some elements of punk and 70's rock to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover anarchy themes.
In my opinion Drivdal are a very great sounding anarcho black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Verden Hikster" "Morkertid" and "Nederlagets Svik". 8 out of 10.
