Todesengel are a duo from Germany that plays a very raw and old school form of satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2022 ep "Funeral Paths" which was released by Wolfmond Production.
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the ep along with a brief use of synths before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music is heavily rooted in the second wave era.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while one song also adds in a small amount of synths. Most of the riffing is also done on power chords and the closing track is also very long and epic in length and also adds in a brief use of melody.
Todesangel plays a style of satanic black metal that is very raw and old school in the second wave tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Death and Apocalypse themes.
In my opinion Todesengel are a very great sounding raw, old school and satanic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Funeral Paths". 8 out of 10.
