Nordblut are a band from Austria that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Av Liv Og Kamp" which will be released on August 26th by Smoke Mountain Records.
A very epic sounding intro starts off the album while also introducing acoustic guitars onto the recording which also return on some of the later songs before going into a heavier direction. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of clean playing.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with one tracks also adding in a brief use of whispers, blast beats and tremolo picking can also be heard briefly when the music finally speeds up, most of the album sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction and the closing song is an instrumental.
Nordblut plays a style of pagan black metal that is very aggressive, melodic and mid tempo sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover Paganism themes.
In my opinion Nordblut are a very great sounding pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Waldes macht" "Auf Die Ahnen" and "Vergangenheit". 8 out of 10.
