Vel' Har are a solo project originally from Chile but now resides in Germany and plays a very raw and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2022 ep "Letania I" which will b e re-issued on August 19, 2022 by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams that also go into a deeper direction at times.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also shows influences from both the modern and old school era's of the genre. Clear vocals can also be heard briefly along with the riffs also utilizing melodies at times and the interludes and outro also add in throat singing, chants and ritualistic sounds.
Vel' Har plays a style of black metal that is very raw and traditional sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover Satanism, Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Vel' Har are a very great sounding raw and satanic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ad portas/Nigredio" and "Audi, vide, tace...". 8 out of 10.
