Peurbleue are a duo from France that plays a haunted from of black metal and this is a review of his 2022 album "La Ciguë" which was released by les Acteurs de L'Ombre Productions.
Distorted soundscapes and power electronics start off the album along with some harsh noises a few seconds later. Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly before introducing clean playing and drum beats onto the recording while the bass guitars also add in a very powerful sound and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
When electric guitars are utilized they also give the songs more of an ambient black metal vibe while also being played in a very non traditional style briefly before adding in some slow riffing. At times the music also gets very experimental as well as capturing the dark atmosphere of dsbm at times.
A small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the riffing along with the spoken word parts also returning on a couple of later tracks. All of the song also sound very different from each other as well as one song also being a synth oriented instrumental and when guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style, as the album progresses a small amount of blast beats can also be heard. The production sounds very dark and r aw while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark and disturbing themes.
In my opinion Peurbleue are a very great sounding haunting black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A la Gloire !" "Survie" "Plus rein" and "La Fin approache". 8 out of 10.
