This is a review of a split album between Poland's Upon The Altar and DeathEpoch which will be released in September by Putrid Cult and we will start off the review with Upon The Altar a and that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of war, black and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some spoken word samples before going into a very fast and brutal war metal direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very chaotic style when they are utilized. Gregorian chants and synths can also be heard briefly as well as the music also adding in a decent amount of death metal elements. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, rituals, apocalyptic and death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Upon The Altar and if you are a fan of war, black and death metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dead Chant" and "Theotokos Wept".
Next up is DeathEpoch a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a bestial mixture of war, black, death metal, industrial and power electronics.
Power electronics and noises start off their side of the split before adding in some drum beats and ritualistic sounds which also takes the music into a heavier direction. Vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams while all of their tracks are also very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements as well as the solos a nd leads also being done in a very chaotic style. Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, spoken word samples, synths and industrial elements can also be heard at times. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from DeathEpoch and if you are a fan of war, bestial black/death metal, industrial and power electronics, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Human Beasts".
In conclusion I think this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of war and bestial b lack/death metal. 8 out of 10.
