BlackBraid are a solo project from New York that plays a Native American form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 album which will be released on August 26th.
Water sounds start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while the faster sections of t he songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Melodies are also added into some of t he guitar riffing and the vocals a re mostly high pitched black metal s creams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. A couple of the songs are also instrumentals and also introduces acoustic guitars and flutes onto the recording along with a couple of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, growls can also be heard at times
BlackBraid plays a style of black metal that is very raw and aggressive sounding as well as displaying his culture through his musical style to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Indigenous American Mythology themes.
In my opinion BlackBraid are a very great sounding native American black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The River Of Time Flows Through Me" and "Prying Open The Jaws of Eternity". 8 out of 10.
