Perversion are a band from Detroit, Michigan that plays a bestial mixture of war, black, death, thrash metal and grindcore and this is a review of their 2022 album Dies Irae" which will b e released in September by Hells Headbangers Records.
A classical music orientated sounding intro starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw war metal direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and brutal blast beats When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style and the vocals are a mixture of bestial growls and black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some of the faster sections also add in a touch of grindcore as well as the album also mixing in elements of thrash metal at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the solos also going into more of a melodic and old school direction on some of the tracks and the songs also mix in a lot of 80's and 90's influences as well as capturing the brutality of rawness of the South American style at times., the album closes with a cover of Bathory's "Possessed". The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the degeneration of civilization, the decay in mortality and the Iron Age/Kali Yuga.
In my opinion Perversion are a very great sounding bestial mixture of war, black, death, thrash metal and grindcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bagvahad Genocide" "Fathomless Cruelty" and "Migration into Darkness". 8 out of 10.
