Hail are a band from Portland, Oregon that plays an experimental and cascadian form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "We Are Nothing" which will b e released on September 29th by Fiadh Productions.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some elements of industrial and noise a few seconds later Vocals are done in a more angry style which also adds in touches of black metal at times while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and spoken word parts are also used briefly.
The slower sections of the tracks also show an influence of doom metal while some of the album also captures the brutality of death industrial. On one of the tracks the music also adds in some powerful bass riffs, melodic guitar riffing, blast beats, tremolo picking and high pitched screams and each song also brings in a different sound.
Hail plays a musical style that takes black, doom metal, experimental, noise and death industrial and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover paganism and Death themes.
In my opinion Hail a re a very great sounding experimental cascadian black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Yes i Can" and "We Are Nothing". 8 out of 10.
