Trenchant are a band from Austin, Texas that plays a mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Commandocult" which will be released in November by Darkness Shall Rise Productions.
A very distorted and militant sound starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the vocals bring in a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls and the solos and leads also add in more of a melodic and old school style. as well as having their chaotic moments
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats, war metal elements and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of the songs also being very long and epic in length, military samples and synths can also be heard briefly and they also bring in a Molested cover.
Trenchant plays a musical style that takes war, black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover war and occultism themes.
In my opinion Trenchant are a very great sounding mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Commandocult" "Yellow Cross Orison" "Atrocity Vison" and "In The Fires of Night". 8 out of 10.
