Vid Liv Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Well, I guess no one have heard of us, but if feels nice to finally have something to present. A debut album, both metal and drone music, no genres and all genres.

Me and F started to play for old times sake two years ago and it has slowly developed to this. Im very humble about every one that has contributed to make this album. Great people that have interpreted the vision for the band and bringing something of their own to the project.

2.You have your first album coming out in october, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

Starting to play and writing together me and F just wanted to surprise ourself. When the material started to sounds a certain way, the next part would haft to be something different. No repeating, So the style, is many styles I guess. For ones I have been successful in feeling free when it comes to genres and expectations. Just mixing stuff and experimenting.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

A: The lyrical content is based on darkness in all its shapes and forms, and how it can make you feel. For some, darkness can bring fear and insecurity, and for some it can be more inviting. It can have a place in your heart and soul that makes you more or less want to discover everything about it, no matter what

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Vid Liv’?

In Swedish it means ”Alive”. A vibrating state to be in. Skirt. Makes you nervous just to think of.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

I think its black holes in a sea of void and nothingness. So its ”on brand”.

6.Has the band done any live shows or is this strictly a studio project?

Right now we don’t have any live plans, Its hard to get people to be in the same place and time. I don’t think F even knows that the record will be released this oktober.  But who knows? Make us an offer!

7.So far very little is known about the band, do you prefer to keep a lover profile?

In one way, yes. If no one asks you, keep quiet and make great art.

8.The new album is coming out on 'Breathe Plastic Records' how did you get in contact with this label?

I was reaching out to them after seeing there rooster and bad ass logo. I think their taste in music is great, and I think the album ”Woe to the Wicked” with Vulva is truly remarkable. Apparently they have a great taste ;)

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal, underground and experimental music genres?

Well since the album isn’t released yet, I have not got that much reactions. But I think that if you appreciate the experimental side of music but that stills sounds ”rehearsal room” this is something for you.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Thats a good question, there will be something else, but with the same roots. I still want to surprise myself so that will be the guidelines. Im fan of bringing in different musicians and styles. And being very openminded to art in any form.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I always come back to ”Ordo Ad Chao” with Mayhem. For me that album was a game changer, just bought in on vinyl, but got the CD for at least 15 years I think. So when its comes to metal it was the end and the beginning.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

I hope people take the time to listen and trough this album from start to end. Its journey. In this time of jumping intros and tracks on Spotify. See how the music can change you. And buy the this very nice packaged cassette trough Breath Plastics, they have done a great job!
