Crîssäegrîm are a solo project from Ecuador that plays a very raw, symphonic, atmospheric and ambient form of black metal and this is a review of his 2026 album "Heir Of The Eternal Kingdom" which will be released in April by Underworld Echoes.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
When synths are utilized they also add in some atmospheric and symphonic touches while the songs also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. A lot of the music is very heavily influenced by the old school era of the genre along with some elements of ambient and dungeon synth also being utilized at times and when guitar leads are added on the album they are done in a very melodic style.
Crîssäegrîm plays a style of black emtal that is very raw, atmospheric and symphonic sounding as well as adding in touches of ambient and dungeon synth to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness themes.
In my opinion Crîssäegrîm are a very great sounding raw, symphonic, atmospheric and ambient black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beneath The Throne of Frozen Dawn" and "The Abyssal Gates". 8 out of 10.
