Vimbulnatt/Der dunklen Tugenden; Echoes/Void Wanderer Productions/Kernkraftritter Records/2026 Full Length Review

 

  Vimbulnatt  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  melodic  and  aggressive  from  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Der  dunklen  Tugenen;  Echoes"  which  will  be  released  in  May  as  a  joint  effort  between  Void  Wanderer  Productions  and  Kernkraftritter  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  The  recording    also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  The  album  also  adds  in  influences  from  both  the  modern  and  old  school  era's  of  the  genre,  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  and  one  song  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  keyboards,  growls  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  harsh  vocals.  

  Vimbulnatt  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  aggressive  and  melodic  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  experiences,  pains,  happiness  and  deaths  of  loved  ones.

  In  my  opinion  Vimbulnatt  are  a  very  great  sounding  aggressive  and  melodic  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mir  das  Mieste"  "Die  dunkel  Tugend  Kapitel  1"  "Kernumwandling"  and  "Preces  Meae  Tenebris".  8  out  of  10.
