Oldowan Gash/EP's of OG/Feral Heart Productions/2025 EP Compilation Review

  Oldowan  Gash  are  a  solo  project  from  Los  Angeles,  California  that  has  recently  had  music  reviewed  in  this  zine  and  on  these  recordings  played  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  ep  compilation  "Ep's  of  OG"  which  was  released  by  Feral  Heart  productions  and  consists  of  his 2018  ep's.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  compilation  while  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  guitar  leads  also  add  in  some  melodies.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  compilation  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  The  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  one  track  also  being  all  acoustic  guitars  as  well  as  having  no  vocals  and  the  second  ep  starts  out  with  a  heavier  instrumental  before  going  into  more  of  a  rawer  direction.

  On  these  ep's  Oldowan  Gash  played  a  very  raw  and  aggressive  form  of  black  metal  that  is  also  has  a  different  approach  to  the  genre,  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  nature,  urban  decay,  atavism  and  medieval  themes.     

  In  my  opinion  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  collection  from  Oldowan  Gash  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Until  The  Bess  Fly  Again..."  and  "The  Maiden's  Tower".  8  out  of  10.
