Fyrdsman are a solo project from the united Kingdom that plays a very atmospheric and progressive form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2026 album "The Free Man" which will be released in May.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while the vocals are done in more of a deep and angry black metal style. At times the music also gets very progressive sounding along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and clear singing is also added into certain sections of the recording.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the album also has its atmospheric moments. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling synths are also added on some of the tracks.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style and some songs also add in a small amount of clean playing along with a later song also being an instrumental.. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album and cover a rebel confronting the reality of post 1055-England.
In my opinion Fyrdsman are a very great sounding atmospheric and progressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Green Men" "Wither" and "The Free Man". 8 out of 10.
