This is a review of a split album between Canada's Hak-Ed Damm and Denmark's Blackhorned called "Exrecrete" which was released by War Productions in 2012 and we will start off the review with Hak-Ed Damm which plays a fast form of black metal with some death metal influences.
Drums range from mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them with some bass leads being used at times.
Rhythm guitars range from mid paaced to fast black metal riffs that are very heavy and brutal with some influences from modern death and thrash metal being thrown into the music while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams, with some deep growls being thrown in at times, while the lyrics cover suicide, hate, war and anti religion, as for the production it has a very strong and powerful sound to it and yo can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Hak-Ed Damm are a very great sounding fast black metal band with modern day death metal and thrash influences and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Drain The Pigs" and "Slay The Nazarene". RECOMMENDED.
Next up is Blackhorned a band that plays a very raw and primitive form of occult black metal mixed with thrash metal.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful tone with 80's style German black/thrash riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with a great amount of thrash influences being thrown into the riffing as well as a good amount of melody, while the lead guitars are very melodic and primitive sounding guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with some deep growls being thrown into the music at times, while the lyrics cover Occultism, Horror, Darkness and Death, as for the production it has a very raw and primitive sound to it while still being produced well enough to the point where you can still hear all of the musical instruments that a re present on this recording.
In my opinion Blackhorned are a very great sounding raw and primitive occult black metal band with a thrash edge and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Banners Of The Damned" and "A Timeless Curse". RECOMMENDED
In my opinion this is a very great sounding split album, and if you are a fan of raw and primitive black metal with a thrash edge, you should add this to your collection. RECOMMENDED BUY.
