Martolea/Noeptia Dihaniller/2010 CD Review

Martolea are a 1 man band from Romania that plays a very raw and primitive form of pagan/black metal mixed with Romanian folklore and this is a review of their self released 2010 album "Noeptia Dihaniller".

Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with some fast playing and blast beats, while the flutes bring a very ancient sounding Pagan folk music feeling to the music with some more traditional Romanian folk musical instruments being employed at times, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast pagan/black meta riffs that are very melodic sounding at times with a great amount of influences from folk music in addition the songs a decent length add variety and never get boring with some instrumentals, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads that have a traditional metal feeling to them at times when they are utilized.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with a great amount of clean singing pagan metal vocals and some whispers, while the lyrics are written in Romanian with themes that cover Romanian Paganism and Folklore, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Martolea are a very great sounding pagan/black metal band with a folk music edge and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ceas Rau" "Vine Numa" "Hora Ielelor" and "Zorii". RECOMMENDED BUY.
