Depriver Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?
1. Depriver is basically a noise band formed in 2008, from Jakarta, Indonesia.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?
2. A noisy shoegaze/doom band with hardcore vocals.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
3. So far, the lyrical topics are about the silly life experiences of the depriver's lead singer.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
4. Depriver came from the word Deprive that i read when i was having an english exam at school. Deprive means Deny (a person or place) the possesion or use of something. We're Depriver, one that deprives. Nothing really serious about it, when i choose the band name i just thought depriver would sounded cool as a band name.

5. Are there any other members involved or is this a solo object?
5. Depriver used to be a solo project that is intended to be a band. I made parts that are possible to be played by other analog musicians on my pc. So it later expanded into a band and right now we got bass player and a drummer. I play guitar and do vocals.

6. Has the band had any oppurtunities to do any live shows, if so what are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
6. Due to the busyness of the members, until now the band only did a performance last year and it was noisy and awful. Here's hoping for a better performance next time.

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of underground music?
7. I don't know if the feedback's been good or not, but on a worldwide level, Depriver got released by Drowning net-label, so fans of Drowning netlabel must've downloaded our album. and i got reviewed on your blog, OccultBlackMetalzine.

8. Are there any other projects besides this band or this full time?
8. I am involved in a noisecore band named The King of Iron Fist Tournament, also used to release tons of cybergrind shit under the name Individual Distortion. the bass player, Adilla is also a member of a post-rock/electronica band Sarin and mathrock band Clatter. The drummer used to play indie rock music in a band called Call Me Nancy.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
9. I think the future releases might be more louder and less-emotional than the previous one. More stompboxes!

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
10. I listen to Alcest, Khanate, My Bloody Valentine, Wolves In The Throne Room, Amusement Parks on Fire, ISIS, and many more.

11. Does Occultism play any role in your music?
11. Uhmm...no. sorry. hehe. (though our music might got influenced by bands that got influenced by occultism)

12. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
12. I like to make movies and also looking around for food. yeah i'm open for a culinary experience.

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
13. Thanks for interviewing me (us!), this is Depriver's first interview actually. thanks. Just wait for our new releases this year.
