Sumeria are a band from California that plays a very raw and primitive form of occult/anti christian black metal and this is a review of their 2006 album "All Paths Lead To Insanity" which was released by Graveless Slumber Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the organs which are only used on the intro bring a very dark and ritualistic sound to the music in addition they are some sound effects being used on one song that makes the music sound alot more evil sounding, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding mixed in with some thrash style riffing that gives the music an old school feeling and dark melodies in addition there is a brief use of clean playing being utilized on one song and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with a small amount of spoken word ritualistic passages as well as a brief use of demonic sounding growls, while the lyrics cover Rituals, Necromancy, Necronomicon, Sumerian, Demons, Blasphemy and Anti Christian/Catholic themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Sumeria are a very great sounding raw and primitive anti christian occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Rizzmeth" "The Traveller" and "Catholic School Girls In Trouble". RECOMMENDED BUY.
