Memoria are a band from Australia that plays a very blackened form of metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Death Calls The Islands" which was released by Misantrof ANTI Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with some fast playing and blasts beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the sound effects when they are utilized they bring an industrial and avant garde music feeling to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced dark/black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with some influences from doom and death metal as well as progressive and classical music in addition some of the songs are very long and epic sounding, while the lead guitars are very meldoic sounding guitar solos and leads that utilize alot of talent and skill, as for the classical guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to add a progressive and classical music feeling to the music.
Vocals are a mixture of high pitched depressive black metal screams, deep death metal growls and clean singing with a brief use of spoken word samples, while the lyrics cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful and heavy sound to it.
In my opinion Memoria are a very great sounding dark/blackened metal band and if you are a fan if this style, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Claw At The Pine" "From Rats We Hide" "The Rats Resist" and "Death Calls The Islands". RECOMMENDED BUY.
