Anicon are a band from New York that plays black metal with atmospheric and doom elements and this is a review of their self released 2013 demo.
"All In Time" starts off with heavy guitar riffs and powerful drumming before speeding up and going into a black metal direction with primitive riffing after awhile the grim sounding screams make their way into the music and as the song moves on a melodic and atmospheric guitar solo makes its way into the song along with some powerful bass lines before going into slow but heavy direction for awhile before speeding up and adding in blast beats.
"A Nest Of Suns" starts off with mid paced black metal riffs and powerful drumming which also utilizes some blast beats before the song slows down which sets up the mood for the grim screams, after awhile the music goes back into a mid paced direction while also switching back to the slower elements at times, as the song moves on the music gets alot faster with some primitive riffing as well as blast beats staying in that direction for awhile before returning to the mid paced sections which also close the song.
"Through Portals Shed' starts off with powerful drumming and melodic black metal guitar riffs before going into a faster and more old school style along with blast beats which sets up the mood for the screams to kick in, after awhile melodic and atmospheric guitar solos kick in for awhile and combine with the rhythm sections as the song moves on slower doom metal guitar riffs come into the song as well as some melodic guitar leads as well as some melody getting mixed in the guitar riffing.
Lyrics on this demo cover dark themes, while the production has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Anicon are a very great sounding black metal band with atmospheric and doom elements and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Through Portals Shed". RECOMMENDED BUY.
