Veldes are a 1 man band from Slovenia that plays a very atmospheric and eerie form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "To Drown In Bleeding Hope" which was released by Razed Soul Productions.
"Through The Bleeding Flame" starts off with some dark black metal riffs and blast beats from the drums and then the grim screams make their way into the music with the guitars and drums switching back and forth between slow and fast while also mixing in mid paced sections and melodic elements as well as elements of dark metal to give the song more diversity.
"Featherless Across The Burnt Skies" starts off with atmospheric synths and acoustic guitars which utilize finger picking and full chords to add progressive elements to the song before the slow drum beats and black/doom metal riffs kick in while retaining the atmospheric elements and acoustic's and then the blast beats kick in with the music getting a little faster setting up the mood for the screams which also slow down the song while still using fast parts at times.
"Earth As Nest Of Bones And Debris" starts off with some soft synth playing, spoken word parts and nature sounds before the slow black/doom metal riffs come into the song along with the drums as well as some melodic guitar leads, after a while some deep black metal screams make their presence known before the song ends.
"Within These Roots Only Sickness Dwells" starts off with some melodic doom metal riffs before the drum beats make their way into the song which sets up the pace for a dark and melodic guitar lead as well as some atmospheric sounds in the background and then the grim screams make their presence known and you can hear a little bit of the bass guitars, as the song moves on black metal elements start combining with the doom elements in the guitar riffing along with some clean playing which lead to another brief guitar lead.
"Beneath The Grieving Wind" starts off with acoustic guitar playing and slow drum beats which sets up the pace for the heavy and melodic dark metal guitar riffs until speeding up and introducing the black metal screams while still maintaining the slower elements and mixing in some melodic guitar leads with atmospheric sounds in the background, as the song moves on the music gets softer with some acoustic guitars which utilize finger picking to add in progressive elements which sets up the pace for blast beats from the drums and fast melodic black metal riffing before slowing down again and slowly drifting back into the acoustic sections and after that going back and forth between slow and fast.
Song lyrics cover sorrow, nature and melancholy themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful and d ark sound with the bass being mixed down low in the mix as well as the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Veldes are a very great sounding eerie, atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of t his musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Featherless Across The Burnt Skies" and "Beneath The Grieving Wind". RECOMMENDED BUY.
