Theoria are a duo from Syria that plays a very atmospheric form of space black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Mantra" which was released by Antiq Records.
"Songs Of Past's Decay" starts off with primitive black metal guitar riffs and drums which lead to some atmospheric synths mixing in as well as some high pitched screams and starts switching back and forth between fast and slow parts and after awhile the synths get more powerful and take the music into a more ambient direction and after awhile heavy guitars, leads and screams start combining with the more ambient sounds and towards the end the music goes back into a faster direction while still ending with a slow riff.
"Inner Tempests" starts off with fast and melodic primitive guitar playing and drums before slowing down and introducing synths and grim sounding screams into the song and after awhile mid paced traditional metal elements and blast beats make their presence known before slowing down again and adding in a brief guitar lead while also keeping the rhythms and vocals, after awhile the synths take over and takes the song into a more atmospheric ambient direction while also keeping the vocals before returning to the heavier parts and leads which also close the song.
"The Chime Of Lifeless Matter" starts off with atmospheric guitar riffing and drums along with some dark synths in the background which lead to some melodic guitar leads and after awhile the music goes more into a psychedelic black metal direction along with a brief guitar lead making its presence known after awhile and closes the song.
"Theoria" starts off with heavy guitar riffs and drums along with a dark atmosphere in the background before the grim screams kick in and the song adds in more melody and heaviness, after awhile psychedelic elements make their way into the song and combine with the heavy and melodic parts which also sets up the pace for ambient sounding synths mixing in with the other instruments and setting up the mood for some blast beats from the drums and melodic leads and then t he song mixes in some electronic music elements before going into another blast beat.before slowing down towards the end.
"Narcissistic Veils" starts off with heavy guitar playing, drums and synths which sets up the mood for the vocals and melodic parts to kick in and after awhile the synths kick in and mix with t he heavier elements.
Song lyrics cover Darkness, Space and Metaphysical themes, while the production has a very dark and heavy sound with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix as well as the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Theoria are a very great sounding atmospheric, space black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Songs Of Past's Decay" and "Theoria. RECOMMENDED BUY.
