Ogdru Jahad are a band from Denmark that plays bestial black/death metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "I" which was released by Iron Bonehead Productions.
"Intro" starts out with some evil sounding sound effects and demonic spoken word parts which sets up the perfect mood for the rest of the album.
"Profane Devastation" starts off with fast drumming, primitive bestial black/death metal riffs and war/black metal screams/growls along with a brief guitar lead while focusing more on the rhythm's as well going into a faster direction with some blast beats while also focusing on the heavy elements as well as the leads returning at times.
"Unholy Blessings" starts off with primitive riffing before the drums and guitar leads kick in which sets up the paced for the faster parts and screams with the song going more into a war metal direction shortly after that while also having a good amount of dark black and death elements.
"Empty Jehovah" starts off with powerful death metal riffing and drums before speeding up adding in screams and going more into a fast and primitive black/death direction while also returning to the slower elements at times.
"Glories Of Mary' starts off with powerful drums, slow and heavy guitar riffing with the screams coming in shortly after that and then the music speeds up and goes into an all out war metal assault with the song also mixing in a brief guitar lead.
"Necromantic Rites" starts off with the sounds of people getting murdered before going into blast drums, fast bestial black metal riffing with the screams kicking in shortly after that with t he song focusing on dark and evil elements as well as mixing in a small amount of guitar leads to add more variety to the song.
"Hobo Of Nazareth" starts off with some chanting before the blast beats and faster riffs kick in and they slow down when the vocals come in to a more old school black/death sound before returning to the fast and primitive parts as well as switching back to t he slower elements at times.
"Weeping Of Angels" starts off with powerful drums and slow, heavy old school death metal riffing before the screams get in and the song goes into a more fast, primitive and bestial direction.
"Sacred Sodomy" starts off with powerful drums, fast and primitive black metal riffing which leads to the vocals kicking in and as the song moves on it switches from slow, mid paced and fast parts with the slower riffing having some doom elements and the song utilizes a dark guitar lead towards the end while closing with the rhythm sections.
"Unclean Birth" starts off with fast primitive riffing and blasting drums with the vocals kicking in shortly after that along with some variety in the riffing and a brief guitar lead.
"It Is Done" starts off with slow dark riffing and drums before the vocals kick in and the song goes in a fast war metal direction along with some blast beats while also slowing down and adding in some death metal elements and as the song moves on the music vanishes for awhile and demonic chants make their presence known and towards the end of the song the music returns for a few seconds and closes the album.
Song lyrics cover anti christian, blasphemous and occult themes, while the production has a very raw and primitive sound with the bass being mixed down low on the recording.
In my opinion Ogdru Jahad are a very great sounding heavy, primitive, bestial black/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album.
