The End are a musical project from India that plays a musical style that they describe as being experimental, rawgaze black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 demo "You Made The Rain Disappear".
"Lost Memories" starts of with some ambient/post rock style clean playing before the drums and fast and primitive black metal riffs from the guitars kick in while still keeping the clean riff in the background which leads to the song slowing down until the synths and spoken word samples kick in for awhile before switching back to the faster riffs for a brief period, and then the nature sounds close the song.
"Shallow Hearts, Empty Streets" starts off with some clean playing and ambient soundscapes for a minute before the drums and atmospheric black metal riffs kick in before slowing down and setting the pace for the synths and spoken word parts staying that way for awhile before some slow depressive black metal parts and angry shouts kick in before ending the song with a soft synth.
"Expectation" starts off with some soft and clean playing, before the drums and lo-fi black metal riffs make their presence known for awhile, then the ambient synths and spoken word parts begin to make their way into the song before going back into black metal once again which leads to a soft post rock guitar riff and the song ends.
"Ashes In The Wind" starts off with some soft and atmospheric ambient synth then leading to a slow melodic black metal riff before the drums and guitars speed up while keeping the synths as well as slowing down for awhile, after awhile the song goes back to its ambient parts and the spoken word parts make their way into the music for a short time, before the return of the black metal as well as throwing in some grim sounding screams which add an element of evil to the song before closing the demo with ambiance and spoken words.
The song themes on the demo cover darkness, solitude and depression, while the production has a very raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion The End are a very great sounding experimental, rawgaze black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Shallow Hearts, Empty Streets" and "Ashes in The Wind". RECOMMENDED BUY.
