This is a review of another recording from Dodsfard with the musical style being experimental black metal this time around with the the ep being self released under the title "Sleeping Trees, Dungeons So Deep".
"Sovande trad" starts off with some acoustic guitars and reverb sounds as well as mixing in synths and drum beats before going off into a primitive black metal riff along with the synth adding in ambient parts and as the song moves on an atmospheric guitar lead makes it way into the music briefly and then it goes to softer and experimental sounds.
"Trolldom" starts off with avant garde sound effects before the drums and melodic guitar riffs kick in while also keeping the experimental synths until the primitive black metal riffs, blast beats and grim screams make their presence known in the song for a few seconds and closing with the synths.
"Det Svarta Tornet" starts off with distorted clean guitar playing which leads to the drum beats and experimental black metal riffs while also switching back to the cleaner parts at times and adding in new elements.
"Morkret infaller snart" starts off with kraut rock style synths before going into a more ambient direction while also adding in drum programming and avant garde elements.
"Vid Skuggans portar" starts off with experimental, avant garde synths and they stay in the same direction throughout the song while getting louder towards the end.
"Sorgens Timme" starts off with very distorted dark ambient synths and the song is only 30 seconds long.
Song themes cover darkness and weird type subjects with the song titles being in their native tongue, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound.
In my opinion this is another great sounding ep from Dodsfard and if you are a fan of experimental black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trolldom" and "Vid Skuggans portar". RECOMMENDED BUY.
