Beyond are a band from Germany that plays a very dark and heavy mixture of brutal, occult death metal and war metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Fatal Power Of Death" which was released by Iron Bonehead Productions.
"Expressions" starts off with some sound effects and synths which bring a very dark and evil sound to the song before some drum beats start mixing in and setting up the mood for the blast beats and fast and brutal war metal guitar riffs which leads to the deep demonic growls before heading into a slower more death metal direction along with a dark sounding guitar lead which mixes in with the rhythm sections and makes the music go back to being fast and brutal again.
"Merciless At Heart" starts off with powerful drums and brutal death metal guitar riffing before speeding up and adding the war metal, blast beats and growls and after awhile the song goes more into a heavy mid paced direction for awhile and returning to the fast parts towards the end.
"Whirwinds" starts off with powerful drumming and dark death metal guitar riffs before going into blast beats and faster guitar riffing which leads to the deep death/war growls and after awhile the song goes more into a mid paced direction as well as mixing in some dark black/death metal leads with the rhythm sections as well as mixing in some morbid melodic elements in the riffing as well as some powerful bass lines before reverting back to the fast apocalypse towards the end.
"Fatal Power Of Death" starts off with blast beats, fast brutal riffing and bestial black/death metal growls and shortly after that the song slows down and adds in a brief guitar lead which mixes in with the fast and slow parts, as the song moves in there is some synths that start mixing in with the heavy rhythms and leads which leads to the song switching back and forth to the fast and slow parts while retaining the leads.
"Schizopsychotic Eruption" starts off with some dark death metal guitar riffs and powerful drums before going into a faster black/death/thrash direction with some melodic parts and blast beats as well as powerful bass lines which set up the mood for the deep, dark growls and the song uses a variety of a different type of riffs as well as mixing in a brief mid paced style old school riff.
"Definite Decease( In The Chamber of Death Salvation)" starts off with a heavy guitar riff, powerful drums and melodic guitar leads, as the song moves on it goes into a more old school mid paced direction before going into a more fast and primitive direction with blast beats and growls before going into a slower and more melodic direction while also remaining heavy and adding in guitar solos which also close the song.
"Appearance From Beyond" starts off with some heavy, melodic doom/death metal riffing along with powerful drums before the melodic leads set up the pace for t he blast beats and fast, brutal war riffing which leads to the growls and screams and after awhile the song slows down with some powerful bass playing which brings in some high pitched depressive black metal screams as well as synths mixing in with t he heavy parts and closing the song.
"Consuming Black Void'' starts off with some dark sounding synths before going into a heavy riff along with some drums and melodic guitar leads and then the song goes into a more fast and brutal war metal direction with blast beats, screams and growls and as the song moves on there is a brief use of chaotic leads as well as the switch's back and forth between slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as getting more melodic and atmospheric with the musical progress and utilizing more guitar leads and then the song goes back to its more primal roots for a few seconds and then starts mixing in avant garde elements with the heavy bass and rhythm and lead guitar riffing.
Song lyrics on the album cover death and occult themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and brutal sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording with the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Beyond are a very great sounding hybrid of brutal death and war metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Merciless At Heart" "Fatal Power Of Death" and "Consuming Black Void". RECOMMENDED BUY.
