Adragard are a band from Italy that plays an old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "From The Burning Mist" which was released on cassette by Depressive Illusions Records and cd by Perkun Rec.
Grim black metal screams start off the album along with some heavy riffing a few seconds later while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody along with the music being heavily rooted in the 90's as well as some of the slower riffing having a slight doom metal influence and acoustic guitars and nature sounds are added onto the closing track.
Adragard plays a style of black metal that is very traditional and heavily rooted in the 90's, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Heathenism, Pagan Mythology and Dark Forces themes.
In my opinion Adragard are a very great sounding old school black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cold Necro Ritual" "Morbid Black Chaos" and "Eremo". 8 out of 10.
