Odhin Runes are a solo project from Argentina that plays a very raw form of pagan black metal and this is a review of his self released and self titled 2015 demo.
A very raw yet melodic sound starts off the demo while blast beats are also used at times along with the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams while the fast riffing also uses a great amount of tremolo picking along with the music also bringing in a very lo-fi atmosphere in its approach.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music has a lot of roots in the more underground style of the genre along with some clean guitars also being used briefly as well as a brief use of clear vocals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and on of the tracks is an instrumental and also gives the demo a more ritualistic edge.
Odhin Runes plays a style of black metal that is very raw while also evoking a very primitive and lo-fi atmosphere, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Wotanism and Mythology themes.
In my opinion Odhin Runes are a very great sounding raw pagan black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Edge Of Gungnir" and "We Are One". 8 out of 10.
