Seventh are a band from Quebec City, Quebec, Canada that plays a very atmospheric form of post black metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 album "Vacarme".
Clock sounds start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic post metal style. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with the riffs also utilizing a lot of melody and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The songs also add in a good balance between slow, mid paced and fast parts along with most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with some acoustic guitars and clean playing also being added on a couple of tracks. Most of the music also brings in a more modern style of black metal as well as the vocals also having their deep and grim moments and as the album progresses a couple of brief instrumentals can also be heard and towards the end there is also a small amount of spoken word parts. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover life, misanthropy, despair and sorrow themes.
In my opinion Seventh are a a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Echoes" "Lust" and "Through The Flesh". 8 out of 10.
