Adversarius are a band from the Netherlands that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "In Nomine Draconis Inferni" which will be released in August as a joint effort between Void Wanderer and War Productions.
A very dark and ritualistic sounding intro starts off the album along with a brief use of demonic voices before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats and all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the guitar solos and leads are done in a very melodic style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and spoken words can also be heard at times.
Some of the riffing and growling vocals also show an influence of death metal along with the music also adding in a good mixture of both old school and modern elements as well as a couple of later track also adding in a brief use of melodic chants, the closing song is also very long and epic in length which also adds in a small amount of classical guitars. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Thelema, Occultism, Left Hand Path, Death, War and Chaos themes.
In my opinion Adversarius are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dragon Of Da'at" "Belial" and "Musmahhu". 8/5 out of 10.
