Feeling Worthless Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Feeling Worthless is a Black Metal / DSBM project born in the cold winter of 2019. It was born as an experimental project between resident members of different locations in Mexico.

2.You have released a good amount of ep's and singles, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recordings?
In each release we have used a different style to record. In the single "Desciendo, Corto y Muero" and the EP "Jornadas de Automutilación" we had Sick Filips as in charge guitar. Due to its influences towards bizarre genres such as Pornogore and Grindcore, the sound had more violent and raw features, unlike the last singles that had a more abstract and experimental sound. Each member has different influences, so the sound of the band is varied.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the project has explored so far with the music?
Its concept is based on the cult of death, suicide, misanthropy, negativity, and nature, mixed with the mythology of some indigenous cultures from different parts of America. Death is taken as the main inspiration, this as a result of its veneration over time by many cultures and civilizations (here is the participation of pre-Hispanic cultures). The monotony of the songs seeks to demonstrate how gray, boring and insipid life can become, sometimes with good things, but almost always (seeing it on a realistic and negative side), with bad things.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Feeling Worthless'?
The name comes from a song by the Venezuelan band "Osteoporosis Aguda", taken from the album "... A Ruthless Hello", to which it belongs. Similarly, the fact of feeling useless and without reason was taken as inspiration, so recording a song from this project is translated and attributed to feeling bad, empty, stupid, useless and with little reason to live. We do not seek to promote suicide, nor that people commit suicide, we seek that people escape through our music and that if they want to get depressed, that we are the reason.

5.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?
Not currently, but possible submissions are not ruled out.

6.One of the band members was also involved with the musical project 'Ombdue', how would you compare working solo to working with a full line up?
It is much more comfortable and the flow of ideas is facilitated, the influences of each one always bring something new to the sound and the feedback never ceases to be present. Among all the members of the band we have a good relationship as friends and we have never had friction or problems, it is very satisfying to share talent with people like them.

7.Recently the band released an ep on 'Dirty Fetti', how did you get in contact with this label?
We have been friends for almost two years, during the promotion of "Demo I" of Chorizo Con Papa, I was fortunate to find his seal and he helped me to spread it without problems I told him about this project and he was delighted with our material, with a promptness of two days, our EP was already on his platform.

8.One of the band members also runs "Entocomophobic Records', can you tell us a little bit more about the label and the bands and musical styles you have worked with so far?
Indeed, our vocalist Xinx Asklas is the CEO of this label, which mainly distributes our music. There are not many filters in terms of genres, almost any group or artist can easily enter the label and genres, there is great diversity, including even Latin Jazz and Kitsch Metal projects.

9.Globally, how has been the reaction to your music by fans of depressive black metal?
The truth has been well received by the community despite having so little time of activity. We had the opportunity to appear in Subtle Death Magazine and with various mentions on fanpages, youtube channels and more. Detractors will not be lacking towards this project, but it really is not something that matters to us.

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We are currently producing a single titled "Recuerdos en Blanco y Negro" and after it is published, we will start with our full length titled "Fearless", so it won't be long before we have one on our discography. The truth is that we do not see ourselves beyond a ceptic pit, if there are opportunities while we are still alive, the public may manage to see us live. Have no illusions.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
The project has been inspired by bands like Nargaroth, Noctural Depression, Sendero Inexorable, Lifelover, Silencer, Deafheaven, Alcest, Katatonia, Bethelem, Tormentor, Mayhem, Osteoporosis Aguda, Darkthrone, KoRn, Eskapi, Epitafio, Metzeli, Luciferian Rites, Xibalba, Black Dracul and a lot of other bands that we still listen to today.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
We appreciate all the support given to the project, the magazine, our followers and Ixtab.

  1. I see that previously publications of this band have gone up and that they even interviewed their other project "Chorizo con Papa", it would be good if they also interviewed the alternative projects of the rest of the members, such as the alternative project "Ombdue" of the vocalist, or Cry of Doom from his guitarist
