Thy Funeral where a solo project from Hungary that played a very raw and misanthropic for of black metal and this is a review of his 2011 album "The End Of Life" which was re-issued in 2020 as a joint effort between Total Darkness Propaganda and Subterranean Aftersounds.
A synth orientated intro starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic and old school style. Clean playing can also be heard briefly on a couple of tracks along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
all of the drum beats are also programmed and as the album progresses the riffs start incorporating more dark sounding melodies as well as adding in a brief use of spoken word parts and synths return on the closing track. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness, death and misanthropy themes.
In my opinion Thy Funeral where a very great sounding raw and misanthropic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of the musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Final Revelation Of Abhorrence" and "Winer Twilight". 8 out of 10.
