Prosanctus Inferni are a band from Columbus, Ohio that plays a mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Hypnotic Blood Art" which will be released in August by Nuclear War Now! Productions.
Horror movie style synths start off the album before going into more of a darker yet heavier musical direction. Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the guitar riffing also brings in a lot of mid 80's to early 90's death metal elements along with the slower riffing also adding in a touch of doom/death emtal.
Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the guitar solos and leads are done in a very chaotic yet old school style. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and war metal elements can also be heard along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the songs also make an old school style sound more modern and as the album progresses synths also make a brief return. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Medieval and Renaissance conceptions of Hell and Damnation.
In my opinion Procsanctus Inferni are a very great sounding old school mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dark Scarp Of Hell" "Hypnotic Blood Art" "Void Called As Black Bonds" and "The Fearful Pit". 8 out of 10.
