Slovenia's Cvinger has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Doctrines By The Figures of Crnobog" which will be released on August 25th by Via Nocturna.
Ritualistic chants and synths start off the album while clean playing can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction. Clear vocals are also added on some of the tracks along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams and the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of blast b eats.
When tremolo picking is added into t he faster riffing they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while elements of death metal can be heard in some of the riffing and growls. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and t he songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts. The songs also mix in a lot of old school influences as well as remaining very modern at the same time, acoustic guitars and stringed instruments can also be heard briefly before returning back to a heavier direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Cvinger and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Revelation Of The Three Headed One" "The Winter Night of The Funeral pyres" "Cosmic Realm" and "Chans And Canticle". 8 out of 10.
