Astaroth are a band from the United States that has been featured before in this zine with a musical style that I would describe as being atmospheric, raw and primitive sounding black metal and this is a review of their 2013 demo "Antichrist" which was released by Horizon Productions.
Drums range from slow to mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some melody being thrown into the riffing and there are no guitar solos and leads present on this recording.
Vocals a re all grim sounding black metal screams, while the lyrics cover Darkness, Occultism, and Left Hand Path themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it in the old school black metal tradition.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Astaroth and if you are a fan of atmospheric, raw and primitive black metal, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Black Goat" and "Antichrist". RECOMMENDED BUY.
