Starless Nights/Drowning Thoughts/Broken Limb Recordings/2012 EP Review

This  is  another  review  of  an  ep  from  Starless  Nights  which  continues  their  depressive  black  metal sound  while  focusing  more  on  shorter  songs  with  the  recording  being  released  by  Broken  Limb  Recordings  in  2012  with  the  album  titled  "Drowning  Thoughts".

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  drumming  with  no  fast  playing  or  blast  beats  being  present on  this  recording,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  depressive  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  heavy,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  along  with  some  atmospheric  elements  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  soft  and  clean  playing  along  with  some  melodies  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  all  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  which  are  only  used  on  one  song  with  most  of the  recording  being  all  instrumental  as w ell  as  a  brief  use  of  deep  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Starless  Nights  and  if  you  are  a  fan of  raw  and  primitive  depressive  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Drowning  Thoughts".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
